M/A/B has provided numerous traffic forecasts under on-call agreements with the NCDOT, as well as with other clients. These forecasts have been used for feasibility studies, environmental reviews, and final designs of road widenings, new facilities, bridge replacements, and interchange/intersection projects. They typically include daily, AM, and PM estimates of mainline volumes and turning movements, as well as heavy vehicle percentages, with documentation of all assumptions, methodologies, and findings. M/A/B’s forecasts are derived primarily from time-series based procedures based on historical traffic and population data, engineering judgment, review of previous forecasts, consultation of relevant traffic studies, and the output from transportation demand models.
